Ek Ped Ek Zindagi

CEE has developed the whole mechanism for the implementation of the campaign after sharing with Dainik Bhaskar Group. CEE developed the MoUs and established partnership with the GEF/UNDP SGP, CEE Partner NGOs. Letters were developed and written formally to the schools by the partner NGOs for being part of this campaign.

The partner NGOs and CEE Offices arranged for the medicinal plant saplings by leveraging various resources including the forest dept. Some places, they purchased it too.  Many innovative ways like taking pledges for conservation of the saplings planted, exhibition of medicinal plants, competitions to create greater sensitization , developing work sheets to note down the plant growth/development over a period of 1 year, forming medicinal plant clubs to propagate the benefits of these plants among the whole school and neighbor community etc. were adopted to disseminate the objective of need for conservation of medicinal and native plants. Not only urban but also rural students were involved in the campaign who generally are not provided with systematic resource materials often. The campaign was done with 21 NGOs covering up 23 cities spread over 8 states. The campaign has been completed in 257 schools with around 35500 students directly participating.  The indirect impact on the other family members of these students will take it to more than 1 lac people (taking 3 more family members per student on an average). The approximate student strength of these participating schools is around 135000 who are also going to be sensitized over a short time period. 11933 saplings have been planted all over which will be contributing towards carbon sequestration as well as propagation of need for medicinal and native plants.
