Asia Regional Workshop on Mitigating the Impact of Climate Change for Sustainable Livelihood

CEE was technical partner for the Asia Regional Workshop organized by Commonwealth Youth Programme, Asia Center, Chandigarh; Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, GOI, New Delhi and Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology from 13-18 October, 2008 at FRI, Dehradun. About 35 youth from Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Pakistan, Maldives, Malaysia, and Singapore participated in the programme.

 

Climate Change Education

CEE in collaboration with U-COST organized ‘Climate Change Education’ programme for the school children of Champawat district, Uttarakhand in April 2008. More than 300 students of class 6-12 from 10 schools in and around Champawat attended the day-long programme held at Government Inter College, Champawat. CEE was invited as the resource agency on this occasion.

 

Uttarakhand Science Youth Festival

Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (U-COST) joined hands with CEE in the capacity of resource agency in organizing 3 day Science Festival for the Youth of the State in February 2008. The festival was attended by more than 80 selected youth from all the districts of Uttarakhand.  This festival provided an opportunity to youth to interact with promising scientists and institutions. Following up the state level event a district level youth programme was organized with help of CEE in district Champawat where more than 300 youth and children participated.

 

4th National Teachers’ Science Congress (NTSC)

CEE (under its Himalaya initiative) joined the National Teachers’ Science Congress as technical partner in September 2007 NTSC was organized by NCSTC Network, catalyzed and supported by Rashtriya Vigyan Evam Prodhoyogiki Sanchar Parishad (RVPSP) of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India at Dehradun, Uttaranchal. The focal theme of this 4th NTSC was “Environment Education for Better Life”. About 500 teachers, educators and educationists drawn from institutions across 25 States and Union Territories participated in the conference. CEE was requested to put up a stall of its education and communication material.
