Mrs Diana Salvemini
Mrs Salvemini works with the Central Programme Management Team of GEF Small Grants Programme. Earlier she was project coordinator of COMDEKS (Community Development and Knowledge Management for the Satoyama Initiative), a global project by UNDP with the Ministry of Environment of Japan. The project successfully focused on community driven activities to maintain and rebuild socio-ecological production of land- and seascapes.

 

 

 

 

Dr Ashok Khosla
Dr Ashok is one of India’s most known environmentalists. He has worked internationally for UNEP, other UN organs and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.  Furthermore, locally he founded the Delhi-based Development Alternatives enterprise. It is a social enterprise that pursues the aim to eliminate poverty and conserve nature at the same time. Additionally he has held several advisory and educative positions for global institutions and the Indian government.

 

 

Mr Ashwani Kumar
Mr. Kumar has a PhD in Business Management from IISc Bangalore and is now using his expertize for the Indian Institute of Plantation Management. The SGP project they are currently running focuses on coffee plantation and land/ water degradation in the Western Ghats, Karnataka. He is an expert in combining management question and environmental issues.

 

 

 

Kartikeya V Sarabhai
Mr Sarabhai is founder and director of CEE, Centre for Environment Education, headquartered in Ahmedabad. He has studied Natural Sciences and has been an environmentalist of the first hour. He represented India on internationally in several forums and conferences such as the Rio Summit. Furthermore he is member of different committees working or sustainable development on national and international level. 

 

 

 

 


Shri Chander Mohan
Shri Chander Mohan has a Master’s Degree from Chemical Engineering and is now Scientist-G and Head of KIRAN, SEED, CSRI and Mission Societal at the Department of Science and Technology within the Ministry of Science and Technology. He had first worked as consultant and later at various positions in the ministry, for example as Chief Executive of the nationwide educative programme Science Express. 

 

 

 

 

Ms Moutushi Sengupta
Ms Sengupta holds a Master’s degree in Applied Environmental Economics from the University of London. Today she is Director of the Indian Office of the MacArthur Foundation. There she focuses on grantmaking for civil society organizations on population and reproductive health in girls’ education and climate solutions. Earlier she worked for Oxfam India and led several development projects.

 

 

 

 

Ms Preeti Soni
Ms Preeti Soni did her PhD in Environmental Economics at VU Amsterdam and has worked since then for several non-profit environmental organisations. Currently she is an advisor in the field of climate change for UNDP. She is an expert on India’s challenges concerning development, sustainability and innovation. 

 

 

 

 

 

Mr Limesh Patel
Mr Patel works as Trustee with Vruksha Prem Seva Trust, a Gujarat based rural development NGO. Vruksha Prem runs a biodiversity and land degradation programme with GEF SGP. Additionally the organisation aims at growing trees, improvement of people’s participation, transparency, water harvesting and other aspects of rural development.

 

 

 

 

Mr Aimal Khaurin
Mr. Khaurin is the National Coordinator for the SGP in Afghanistan. Since 2012 SGP has been running 46 in the country of which most are concern biodiversity, climate change mitigation and land degradation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mr Imtiyaz Ali
Mr Ali founded of Sarthak Samudayik Vikas Evam Jan Kalyan Sansthan, an organisation that works in the field of plastic and solid waste management. Thereby it has a special focus on rag pickers and the improvement of their socio-economic situation. In 2013, Sarthak won the Best Entrepreneur Award for recycling of plastic waste by SGP India.

Mrs Ana Maria Currea
Mrs Currea has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Colombia University. Today she works as Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist for the GEF Small Grants Programme at UNDP in New York. It is her responsibility to provide support for operators within the programme in 125 countries. Her areas of expertise are knowledge management, relationship building, advocacy, programme management and monitoring and evaluation.

 

 

Mr Anil Gupta
Mr Gupta is a special expert on grassroots developments. He is known for the foundation of the Honey Bee Network, a network of individuals, academics, non-profits, farmers and policy makers in more than 75 countries. The honeybee that flies from flower to flower symbolizes the collection of knowledge and fair discourse that are necessary to achieve sustainable lifestyles. Furthermore Mr Gupta is a Professor at IIM-A for Agriculture Management.

 

 

Shri Harish R. Dave
Shri H.R. Dave has a Post Graduate Degree in Agriculture Finance from IIM-A. Afterwards he started working at NABARD, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, where he currently holds the position of Deputy Managing Director. He has worked on several key sustainability projects in India, for example the Canal Top Solar Power project in Gujarat. 

 

 

 

Mr Apoorve Oza
Mr Oza holds a post-graduate diploma in Rural Management and is now Chief Executive at Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRPs). AKRPs are created with rural communities to create their own representative village organisations. It is a successful project that has spread since 1983 into remote areas in Central and South Asia as well as East and West Africa.

 

 

 

Dr A.K. Pattnaik
Dr Pattnaik is Chief Executive of the Chillika Development Authority in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The Chillika Development Authority is a governmental agency that was created in 1991 with the aim to conserve the ecology of Chillika lagoon, the largest coastal lagoon in India. Furthermore the Authority is running multi-dimensional social projects in the area of the lagoon to stimulate development for the local community.

 

 

 

Ms. Pallavi Patel is presently working as the Director of CHETNA and she is also the founder member of CHETNA. She has done her post-graduation in Foods and Nutrition from Faculty of Home Science, MSU, Vadodara. She had started her career from Integrated Nutrition and Health Action Programme (INHAP) funded by CARE Gujarat which helped her to get an understanding of the field reality and health scenario of rural poor. 

She has worked extensively in the area of adolescent health and maternal and child health. She had also developed and showcased different training strategies, approaches and implementation models which are being appreciated and adopted in the existing health and nutrition programmes of government.She has also written modules for the government programmes especially for community health workers and adolescents’ health programmes. She has actively contributed in bringing the voices of adolescents and young people in the National Youth Policy and formulation of National Adolescent Health Strategy.

Ms. Meena Bilgi
Ms. MeenaBilgi is a gender, water and agriculture specialist with more than two decades of experience internationally, with a special focus on India. Meena has contributed to the design of many country-level programs for international donor funded projects including the WOCAN/IFAD Rural Women's Leadership Programme. As an active member of WOCAN, she represented WOCAN as part of women major group in preparatory meetings for the UN Commission for Sustainable Development's 16th, 17th and 18th Session. She has represented WOCAN at the FAO World Summit on Food Security in 2009, the UN High Level Task Force for the Global Food Security Crisis in 2010 and she is currently helping design country-level pilots for WOCAN's Rural Women's Leadership Project.


Mr. Vivek Dhar
Mr.Vivek Dhar is working as Programme Associate in UNDP Nepal. UNDP Nepal is mainly engaged in helping the Government and its people build a lasting peace and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It works in the areas of governance; inclusive growth and sustainable livelihood; peace building and recovery; energy, environment, natural disaster management and HIV.


Mr. R K Sama
Mr R.K Sama, was the Former Project Director at WASMO and he is currently an IFS Member.

Mr. Dilip Surkar
Mr. Dilip Surkar is the Executive Director at Vikram A. Sarabhai Community Science Centre (VASCSC). He is also the Managing Director of Paryavaran Edutech.  He has got international training from Lund University, Scania ,Sweden, in Water and Sanitation and he has also got the training from University of Birmingham in Environmental Management.

 

 

 

Mr. Prabhjot Sodhi
Mr. Prabhjot Sodhi is currently working as Programme Officer in UNDP India where he is involved in the project of “Implementation of Rural Sanitation Initiatives for Ganga Rejuvenation in Jharkhand”. He has the experience of working as Country Program Manager at Center for Environment Education. He has also as National Coordinator in Global Environment Facility (GEF) United Nations Development Programme, Small Grants Program.

 

 

 

 

 

Ms. Karuna Singh
Ms. Karuna Singh is the Country Director at Earth Day Network, India.

She joined Earth Day Network in March 2010, after working for 24 years at the State Department’s US Consulate at Kolkata. A senior executive with them, Karuna’s major portfolio focus was on environmental affairs. She organized seminars with environmental experts, workshops, film screenings, and other events to build awareness about climate change and other environmental issues among a wide spectrum of audiences, from senior-level policy makers to grassroots NGOs. Karuna worked to inspire youth to work for the environment, and organized special media events on environmental reporting. Her work area covered 12 states of eastern and northeastern India, a region with a population of around 300 million that borders several countries. Karuna also helped put together cross-border programs on subjects such as Coastal Zone Management. She is also one of a small group of select persons who was trained by former U.S. Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore to make presentations on climate change issues

Mr. R.S. Balasubramanyam is the CSR Head of the Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd is basically working in the areas of Education, Health care, Sustainable livelihood, Infrastructure development and some of the relevant social causes.

Dr. Alka Parikh
Dr. Alka Parikh is the Associate Professor (Professor of Economics) at DAIICT, Gandhinagar. She has done her PhD. in Agriculture and Allied Economic from Cornell University, USA. Her areas of interestinclude Rural development and the related issues like Agriculture, Poverty, Unemployment and Wages, Rural Finance, Environment and Development, Disaster Management etc. She has taught many university level courses regarding development, especially rural development. She is mainly working for the ICT in Agriculture and Rural Development Program that is the only program of its kind in the country. Previously she has worked as Senior Program Coordinator at Center for Environment Education.

 

Ms. Juhi Pandey
Ms. Juhi Pandey is the Director of Khamir. She has worked in the garment and textile export industry for the past 8 years, prior to which, she was extensively working in the handloom & handicrafts sector, mainly in Gujarat, through NID.
As a textile designer, her passion lies in working with various materials, and colours, and creating products that are aesthetic, practical but also different. Her specialties lie in designresearch, export marketing & planning, brand building & imaging, embroidery, printing and dyeing (natural dyeing techniques), teaching & conducting workshops.

 

 

Mr. Parth Shah
Mr. Parth Shah is the BIM Project Coordinator, Architect. He is skilled in Building Information Modeling (BIM), 3D Visualization, Construction Drawings, Sketch Up, and Feasibility Studies. He is a Strong arts and design professional with a B.Arch. in Architecture from School of Architecture, CEPT University, Ahmedabad. He has done his Specialization in Watershed Management from ITC, Enschede, the Netherlands.

 

 

 

Ms. Anu John
Ms. Anu John is the Peace, Climate Change, Disaster Risk, Program Management Specialist, UNDP (International Cooperation Division, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change -MoEFCC.  She is also the Country Coordinator, GEF India. She is responsible for coordinating/ overseeing the environmental portfolio on Multilaterals and Bilaterals for the MoEFCC,Government of India. She is also providing strategic support on Energy, Climate Change, Land Degradation, Desertification, Chemical Waste, International Waters and Sustainable Cities for multilateral and bilateral agreements. She has also worked as Program Manager, Climate Change and sub- national planning in UNDP. 


Ms. Brinda Shah
Ms. Brinda Shah is basically a renowned architect.  She has studied from CEPT, Ahmedabad.  She has also done International Studies in Vernacular Architecture from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, UK. She is also a member of Council of Architecture (CoA), India.

 

Ms. Indu Capoor
Ms. InduCapoor is the Founder Directorof CHETNA, Ahmedabad. Since 1980, has been instrumental in developing CHETNA into a unique support organization of national importance and international repute. She has built linkages with various organizations and networks, developed a comprehensive, holistic, multi-sectoral approach to issues of health, advocated for a lifespan approach to women's health, highlighted the integral nature of gender issues in health, pioneered an approach for Children's Participation entitled "Children in Charge for Change" and has contributed in various policy and programme documents related to the health of children, adolescents and young people and women.

 


Mr. Omkar Acharya
Mr. Omkar Acharya is the Executive Director in H K Acharya and Company. He is a Trade Marks Attorney and also a member of the Bar Council of Gujarat, India. He holds a Bachelor in Science from St. Xavier’s College and a, Master Degree in Science with specialization in Biotechnology from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad with brilliant records. He is actively involved in the administration of the company. With his vast knowledge in terms of technicality, he has the ability to solve and resolve technical issues relating to the IPR regime. He has been a part of various international conferences like INTA, ECTA and BIO (Bio technology Industry Organization). He has also been a part of various seminars on national as well as international level.


Mr. Nishank shah
Mr. Nishank Shah is an Alumni of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (2012-14 )batch and is the Director of Duro Green since October 2014. He is also the Managing Director of Nishank Enterprise.

 

Dr. Soham Pandya
Dr.Soham Pandya is the Executive Director at Centre of Science for Villages, Wardha. He did his MSc. from M.S University and PhD. from Sardar Patel University, Vallabh- Vidhyanagar, Anand, Gujarat. He has successfully completed British Council Sponsored Certificate Course for " Natural Resource Managers" at Center for Developmental Studies, Swansea, Wales, U.K and attended a Certificate Course in “Basic Computer Application for Managing Natural Resources at Wye College, London, U.K.

He worked as faculty in different colleges affiliated to Pune University, Nagpur University and Amravati University. At present, he is offering his services as the Executive Director of a voluntary organization namely "Centre of Science for Villages" (CSV), Dattapur, Wardha.

CSV works in the field of Entrepreneurship Development, Housing, Sanitation, Renewable Energy, Village Industries, Agriculture and Forestry.Dr. Pandya has introduced a range of Appropriate Technologies (AT) and Methodologies which are Ecologically Sound; Economically Viable and Socially Just. As Principle Investigator, Dr. Pandya has implemented more than a dozen scientific Project funded by Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Women and Child Development, CAPART etc.A Draft Proposal on Land Cover Management has been written by Dr. Soham Pandya for Science and Society Division, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. He has published many scientific papers, books, reports and popular articles.He is a fellow of Leadership in Environment and Development (LEAD) – International and is a member of many reputed organizations.
