About the Project 

The Nature Education Programme integrates environmental learning into the curriculum to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Its purpose is to promote environmental awareness, inspire sustainable practices, and encourage active participation in conservation efforts. By connecting students with the natural world, the programme aims to build a foundation for responsible environmental stewardship and lifelong eco-friendly habits. 

Centre for Environment Education (CEE) implements environmental education through its Nature Education Programme in partnership with various partners. The "Greening Minds" - 

Nature Education Programme, implemented in schools in partnership with TVS Motors, provide students with hands-on experiences in man-made forests and witness the conservatory implementations on campus to mitigate climate change and pollution. This initiative helps students connect with and gain a deeper understanding of natural environments through direct interaction with these created forest areas and adopt certain green initiatives through outreach program. 

Purpose of the Project 

Responsible for creating and implementing plans and strategies for training teachers and students to effectively deliver the educational program. This involves providing hands-on experiences, outdoor learning opportunities, and activities that enable teachers and students to analyze, document, and apply environmental concepts. Additionally, the role involves establishing the TCCPC (Teacher-Child-Child-Parent-Community) link to promote environmental security and nature conservation within the community. 

Responsibilities

  1. Stay current with the latest research and developments in wildlife biology, state of climate change and conservation strategies.
  2. Design and produce educational materials, such as handbooks, brochures, posters, and online content.
  3. Prepare engaging presentations, workshops, and activities for diverse audience.

About the Project:

Centre for Environment Education is implementing an Integrated Waste Management Project –“EcoGram” in Guwahati, Assam. This is one of the initiatives of the Hyundai Motor India Foundation and CEE. The project aims to minimize negative impacts and risks to the environment and to human health in the implemented area and promote a ZERO WASTE MODEL APPROACH - zero landfills, zero plastic burning, and zero Emissions, and Zero wastage in Dry waste management in India.

The strategy is to have a multi-stakeholders approach through an integrated model directed to address immediate causes with support from the Hyundai Motor India Foundation and Guwahati Municipal Corporation, by establishing a Swachh Sustainable Business Models (SSBMs) for improved dry & plastic waste management by establishing – DRY and PLASTIC WASTE Material Recovery Facilities, in line with the emerging MOEFCC GOI “National Resource Efficiency Policy” and the “National Materials Recycling Policy”.

Job role:

The Project Officer is to be based in Guwahati (Assam) and ensure the smooth implementation of project activities in Guwahati.

The recruited Project Officer is to ensure effective coordination, advocacy, and technical support may be extended to the respective department/ULBs/service providers/others from the state to the field level on effective implementation of the project.

The Project Officer will be responsible for implementing the linkages with various stakeholders in the working areas to align the execution of the core project activities.

The recruited Project Officer will work in close collaboration with the project manager, Service Provider, and the donor. He/she will be reporting to the Project Manager.

Qualifications and experience requirements: 

Graduate in Environmental Science/ Environment Management / Social Studies / Economics / Waste Management/ Business Management or another relevant field with a minimum of 05 years of experience in the relevant field. Working experience in the implementation of waste management projects or working with the State or central governments will be preferred.

Good analytical, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills on the impacts of the project. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.).

Proficiency in the local language i.e. Assamese will be preferred.

Scope of Work:

  • Provide support for the execution of projects related to Integrated (Dry and plastic) waste management covering the following main areas:
    • Dry/Plastic waste supply chain management – segregation, collection, transportation, aggregation, and recycling
    • City evaluation and ecosystem building – guiding and drafting the plans and TORs for understanding city baseline and SOPs etc.
    • Execute partnerships – Setting up partnerships and managing relationships with waste pickers, NGOs, Pvt. Partners, Bulk waste generators and a host of other partners to develop backward and forward linkage for dry/plastic waste further processing.
    • Governance – Setting up a governance system to monitor operations and capacity building to various formal and informal sector players in the ecosystem
    • Procurement and Vendor Management- Should have some some knowledge regarding machinaries and procurement systems and vendor management.
  • Assistance in the preparation of project documents like TORs, Monthly and weekly project reports, impact reports etc., and presentation for higher authorities.
  • Support and Review integrated waste management project-“EcoGram” at various stages during execution, and look into alternatives that are sustainable, cost-effective, and executable.
  • Liaison and Network with various stakeholders, both government and non- government, during the execution of the projects.
  • Assist in Capacity building, Resource mobilization, and Knowledge management by attending training programs related to project activities.
  • Visit various places for review of projects as well as evaluation of vendor’s technology on waste management practices, composting.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned from time to time by the senior management.

Programme Coordinator - Quality Education in Rural Schools Programmes

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Programme Coordinator to lead our Formal Education and School programmes, focusing on Quality Education, Teacher Training, Remedial Education and Community Engagement in rural areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Education and Psychology, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Educator’s responsibilities:

  • Be an educator for any one class to handle Planet discovery Centre kids of age 2 to 8 years. Handle all responsibilities of the educator, planning, execution, classroom management, reporting and parent interactions.
  • Implement and strengthen EE and Nature based education in the annual, monthly and daily activity plans for all age groups. Demonstrate activities, codify these, document learnings and impact and train the team on EE and nature based education especially on CEE Campus.

    centre and CEE

Requirements for the Educators

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Science/Social Sciences) with Bed, Masters degree, qualification and training in Elementary education and pre-school experience of working with age 2-8 years.
  • Full time (8 to 3pm, with lunch break); Part time (8 to 1, w/o lunch break)
  • 6 days working arrangement (Monday to Saturday), 1 st , 3 rd , 5 th Saturdays are mandatory working, rest based on the requirements.

Educator cum Coordinator:
