Ozone
Phase out
CEE has been working closely
with the Montreal Protocol over nearly 14 years on aspects
of technical assistance and information support at the
regional and global levels. The credibility established in
this process has prompted UNEP to involve CEE in the
development of phase out management plans targetting
hydrochlorofluorocarbons and guide the development of the
framework for destruction of ODS. The Industry Initiatives
team is involved in these activities. This calls for close
interactions with the staff of UNEP working on these
aspects. Dr. R Gopichandran, Programme Director Industry
Initiatives, is currently working out of the Compliance
Assistance Programme Office of the OzonAction Programme in
Bangkok. This work is related to 14 countries in South &
South east Asia; and is scheduled to be completed by April
2009. |

Involving volunteers in Teaching
CEE
partners with the The Times of India's Teach India
campaign. CEE and its sister institutions would use the
approach of 'Joyful Learning' to get children in various
parts of Ahmedabad to actively participate in civic
issues within immediate vicinity. After several
brainstorming sessions, CEE members came up with
ten
thematic areas to be covered in the twelve week
programme.
Over
300 enthusiastic volunteers participated in CEE's
orientation and induction session held on 20-21 Dec
2008. The volunteers will
contribute towards nation building with their creative
approach. |
