CEE is the national operator for the Eco schools Programme in India. Eco schools is an Educational Programme run by the Foundation for Environmental Education which encourages young people to engage in their environment by allowing them opportunity to actively protect it. It starts in the classroom and expands to the community by engaging the next generation in action based learning.
Internationally this Programme is implemented in 69 countries. In India, this programme was formally launched during the year of 2015. Through this Programme, young students experience a sense of achievement at being able to have a say in the environmental management policies of their schools, ultimately steering them towards certification and the prestige which comes with being awarded as Green flag. The Programme follows a 7 step methodology, and is being adopted for the primary level (classes 1-5) in India.
Registered schools receive as set of resource material and training to carry out action projects focusing on local environmental issues in five themes - Biodiversity, Waste, Energy, Healthy living and Water. The Programme encourages schools to qualitatively enhance their learnings through project based methods and share their experience. https://www.ecoschools.in/
