Meghalaya Signages Project:

Meghalaya Signages Project is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India through the Directorate of Tourism, Shillong Government of Meghalaya and implemented by CEE Meghalaya State Office, Shillong.

The project involves setting up of signage components involving fabrication and installation of hoardings, directional signages, panels, panoramic view translites, scrolls, dioramas, anodized way signages and a 3-D Relief Map with the objectives of promoting tourism in Meghalaya.  

During the year, 11 hoardings and 14 directional signages have been fabricated and installed on sites identified and approved by the Directorate of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya. Earlier permission for installation of these wayside components have been obtained from the concerned authorities and the components installed. 

The directional signages have been installed at the state and national highways enroute Jorabat, Shillong and Sohra in Khasi Hill district and one each at Thadlaskein, Jaintia Hill district and Baghmara in Garo Hill district of Meghalaya.

Dioramas(table top)havebeen fabricated under the project and are ready for installation. These are based on models depicting endangered plant and animal species of Meghalaya, which includes ape species- Hoolock Gibbon, Clouded Leopard and the State Pitcher Plant. The dioramas are fiber-based, having a wooden structure base and will be kept inside 10 mm thick glass. Panoramic View (PV) translites have been designed and fabrication is under process.
