Training-cum-orientation programme for three days was organized by the HP State Council for Science Technology & Environment at Shimla for training trainers and in charge of the eco-clubs. Representatives from all over the State participated in it.
CEE was invited to conduct few modules during the training programme. Mr. Prabhjot Sodhi, National Coordinator, SGP-GEF-UNDP participated in the inaugural function and later conducted a session on current environmental challenges and the preparedness required to deal with them. Mr. Sodhi highlighted the problems of global warming, water crisis, climate change, pollution, food insecurity, loss of biodiversity and inter linkages amongst these. What is being contributed through SGP partners country and worldwide and how this SGP network resource can be utilized by the school system of NGC to improve the environment scenario. The possible synergies were discussed.
Mr. Abdhesh took a session on ecological foot print and handprint and this can be used amongst school children to create awareness and change lifestyles. Exercises and calculations on foot print and handprints were done to understand the concepts better.
