Anandshala ('A school of joy'), a whole school development approach of CEE focuses on creating conducive educational environment in the school including physical, social and pedagogical and through active participation of the community. Initiated with 30 schools of Gujarat, Anandshala today has become a widely known and well accepted concept. The model has been successfully replicated in schools of many states across India, including Alwar at Rajasthan. The project involved participatory process in four arenas of school - students, teachers, community and physical environment. It correlates formal education with life skill activities and strengthening the existing institutions for child friendly school environment, thus reorienting education for sustainable development.
