CEE in association with Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) and the Department of Environment, organised ‘Maru Paryavavaran Jan Chetna evam Sikshan Karyakaram’ in the 12 desert districts of the state. As part of the programme, manual for teachers and eco-club members on the theme of deserts and desertification specially developed for the Thar Desert along with a set of posters were developed and distributed to 3000 schools in the project districts. Master Trainers from the project districts underwent a two-day training programme organised by CEE at Jodhpur. Resource persons for the programme included experts from the Zoological Survey of India, Botanical Survey of India and the State Department of Forests. The participants went on a field visit to Machhiya Safari Park for orientation to identify desert flora and fauna and were oriented to use the teachers’ manual and field guides in the classroom and outdoors.
