22 May is celebrated as International Day of Biological Diversity. Responding to the worldwide call for conserving fauna and flora on the earth, CEE Rajasthan team in collaboration with Lady Bamford’s Charitable Trust celebrated International Day for Biological Diversity with students of Govt. Sec. School, Tilawas, Jaipur. Activities kicked off with a game ‘Web of life’, by which participants were encouraged to make connections between different lifeforms and a variety of services provided by them to sustain life on earth. Through the activities like origamy, face painting, mask making, etc. organised on theme of biodiversity, the crucial role of biodiversity were further clarified to the participants along with fun and creativity. Children enjoyed folding paper and creating faunal varieties like fish, frog, birds, cat, rabbit, etc. Body painting was a huge hit with participants, through which they made colorful tattoos of plants and animals on their skin. Mask making activity provided a chance to the students, to present their observation about their favourite animal. These activities nurtured feeling of love, respect, care and sensitization about protection of biodiversity. An activity ‘ Art from Nature’ was carried out, in which children collected various natural material like dry leaves, flowers, pebbles, soil, feathers, etc. These natural material were then used to portray various natural features like birds, plants, butterfly, fish, etc. Through the activity, participants depicted their ideas about environment and its bountiful beauty. Creativity of students depicted that adopting ethically rich traditions act is one of the solution, that can help to save the environment and dealing with current environmental problems.
