Key activities conducted during the programme included capacity building of education functionaries about the concept and establishment of a WASH council for ensuring handwashing practice in the schools. Distribution of personal hygiene kit to each student was done along with development of IEC material for reiterating WASH messages. IEC material given to the school included a poster on handwashing and personal hygiene, calendar for monitoring of WASH practice in schools. Session were conducted with students on importance of personal hygiene along with demonstration of the proper process of handwashing. A portable hand washing unit was developed for this purpose and was utilized as part of demonstration session followed by discussion with school management and sharing of other ideas of hand wash facility.
