TRIVENI
TRIVENI CEE's Ecofriendly Recycling Unit:
Under CEE’s ‘Ecofriendly Reuse and Recycling Unit’ (CEE-ERU) programme, a new Polybag weaving unit is in the process of being set up in Palghar, Maharashtra. This unit will be called as ‘TRIVENI’ since it is a joint effort of three organisations namely CEE, JSW Foundation and Gram Panchayat, Palghar.
The unit to be established at Palghar village of Thane district of Maharashtra, will be operated and maintained by the local fisherman community who have had to abandon fishing in the creek, which was their age-old occupation because the creek where the fishing was taking place has been polluted because of the industrial effluents from the nearby industries. The TRIVENI will be functional by June 2008.
