WATSAN- Assessment
Participatory Assessment of Water and Sanitation facilities in Schools:
The School Sanitation and Hygiene Education (SSHE) project, primarily involves school teachers and children. SSHE, supported by UNICEF, aims to evolve and strengthen awareness and understanding of sanitation and hygiene in the community through the school system.
CEE-AP did a participatory assessment of existing water and sanitation facilities in schools, commissioned by the SSHE and Quality Assurance and Inspection Cell of the School Sanitation Programme of the Department of Education, Government of AP in consultation with UNICEF. The findings would guide the development of child-friendly designs of these facilities in schools. A sample of 10 schools each, were visited in the selected districts of Medak, Ananthapur and Visakhapatnam.
